5. There's still a lot of work to be done here.

The Church has long maintained it doesn't take issue with same-sex attraction in principal, but because of their position on sex (i.e., it should only be done with intent to produce a child) they remain opposed to same-sex couples in substance. Saying, "We welcome you into our church as long as you aren't having sex with each other", is kind of an absurd proposition, and doesn't really do much to remove the stigma of sin from same-sex relationships.
