Just one more thing to worry about. Have we not been doing that this year? Are they really that far ahead of us?

(11,384 posts)(new registrations vs "registered voter" -- by city, state, district, county?)
but, in overall terms, I believe that the statement is just flat out wrong.

(1,580 posts)Also Morning Joe said it on MSNBC. I looked at the link and the article was saying it was since March. I will see if I can find the link for you. Ok. The post is from Bigmanpigman in editorials and it is called Biden isn't out of the woods yet. The link is to a NYT article. You have to read to the end of the article to find the 4 proofs they are citing. Good luck

(994 posts)Maybe these are people who have moved
People who have got married
Republicans who will vote for Biden
People just messing around register as republicans who are independent but going to vote for Biden, like the kids who requested for tickets for Tulsa rally.
Just throwing some things out for thought,
This crap about registering more republicans than democrats has been out for awhile and started me thinking

(11,087 posts)1) Democrats still hold an advantage in registration.
2) its speculated that The shift is from Dixiecrats and Reagan Democrats finally just switching to Republican. It the the case it won't affect The totals too much since those former Democrats don't vote for Democrats Anyhow. I wonder it its a deceptive narrative to keep Republicans engaged in the face of a major loss.

(15,412 posts)it was in the introduction so I don't see a clip posted on the site. There are several articles out there though. They say republicans have narrowed the gap by registering more new voters.

Sorry not to have posted more info in first post, I tend to think everyone watches what I watch! Dumb.

(14,565 posts)But yes, we need to change method and timing in swing states instead of relying on late cycle of election years only. We got stuck this year because we assumed normalcy and weren't granted normalcy due to coronavirus.

(35,756 posts)Keep in mind that he lost a significant number of voters due to death over the llast 4 years. This was coverEd extensively so you should turn it up. Older white voters. Aged out. They have to make up for that loss.

(25,595 posts)They are going door to door more etc.
We lost a good chunk of our registration base due to college and high school closures etc. This was reported locally months ago. We have groups that perform huge registration drives at high schools and universities. It did not happen this year.

(509 posts)The media is way overstating this. They're making it seem like it's due to some big GOP wave that's coming and it's not. It has to do with not doing drives due to the pandemic. As long as our people GOTV, we'll be fine.

(3,282 posts)This is, in large part, Dixiecrats formally registering as republican.
So it subtracts from Dem numbers and adds to R numbers, but it's not a change in voting habits because these people have voted R for years.
It also means that Democrats have added a lot more new Ds than the net registration changes suggest since they lost a lot of their old numbers to previously mentioned dixiecrats.
It's not something that we need to really be worried about. Polls are a far better predictor than registration numbers, especially in the South and Appalachia where a lot of old Democrats started voting for Rs 20 years ago.

(269 posts)To the State of Florida. But the GOP has been hemorrhaging voters there.

(14,575 posts)Rs have a net advantage in new registrations of about 150,000 over the last year or so.

(1,580 posts)The source is on a discussion thread in the editorial forum. The thread is titled Biden isn't out of the woods yet by BigmanPigman. It sources a NYT times article which sources the Cook political report. If you read down to the end of the Times article it list 4 swing states which have more new registrations from GOP party. However, these registrations were counted back in March and June.
