Tonight at 7 p.m., discussion on American Labor Policy

FYI: A Berniecrat running in the GA-SEN Special.

If you are free at 7:00 p.m. tonight October 15, tune into another event in the Winfield for Senate series of policy discussions, which has included Noam Chomsky, Pavlina Tcherneva, and Shashi Tharoor.

This involves a conversation on The Future of Labor Organizing In America, Challenges and Solutions, between Richard D. Winfield and one of the country’s top labor organizers Richard Bensinger, former organizing director for the AFLCIO and UAW (United Auto Workers), currently working on industry organizing projects in the U.S. and Canada.

The conversation will be moderated by Robert Sarason, a former labor organizer for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the Industrial Union Department in the south. You can join via Zoom here, but also on Facebook live @richarddienwinfieldofficial, which will be necessary if Zoom bumps you for being the 101st person onwards to try to get on.

Our rights as employees are of crucial importance since about 95% of the people in the country are employees or pieceworkers. As you know, Richard has a strong labor policy as part of his social bill of rights, which includes employee empowerment through mandatory collective bargaining, 50% employee representation on corporate boards in private and public corporations, and a comprehensive employee bill of rights. He is also a founding member of the United Campus Workers, which is organizing university faculty and staff across Georgia.

This conversation between Winfield and Benzinger therefore promises to be thoughtful and lively, with the latter providing an empirical perspective from long years on the field, to fill in the former’s policies fashioned from rational thinking. It will be a learning opportunity as well for those of us who don’t know the ins and outs of labor organizing. It is a precursor as well of a live roundtable discussion organized by the campaign on Sunday October 18, at 4:00 p.m., involving local Athens labor groups, of which, more later.

All Democrats need to drop out except Warnock...for God sakes. DROP OUT. We could get 50 % with one person running and avoid a run off or an out and out loss.
