I'm in the Redneck Riviera (Florida Panhandle-Trump territory) and am disheartened from the rabid, cult like following he has here. BUT, two incidents yesterday gave me some comfort.
First, a woman clerk was helping us load groceries in our car when I mentioned how pleased I was seeing how almost everyone in the store shopping was wearing masks except for two idiots. She commented how she hated dealing with them which was a surprise in and by itself. Then she told us how "That idiot" caused seven-yes, seven- members of her family to come down with Covid because they listened to -again- "That idiot". I asked how they were getting along and she said almost all were weathering it except for her father who was still in the hospital and being considered for a ventilator. She was getting a bit emotional at this point and her anger was obvious at "That idiot". We wished her well and drove home.
Then the second incident. On our way home we drive through back lanes with Trump crap all over the place. One house in particular really pricked at me. A pickup truck-of course- with two huge Trump/Pence flags on the back, a 2x4 Trump -Stop the Bullshit- sign in the yard, and many, many signs in his yard. Today, NONE - not a one.
Perhaps I smell a bit of blue in the air.

(1,160 posts)I too live in a rather Redneck area of Florida. Every morning when I get up to see what has died in my inbox, I shift the curtain to see if my idiot neighbor has taken down his dump flag (used to be confederate).
Nope. Still there and off to the grading salt mines I go.
