But instead, tweeting on Monday from the military hospital where he has been receiving state-of-the-art treatment for Covid-19, the president yet again downplayed the deadly threat of the virus.
Dont be afraid of Covid, he wrote. Dont let it dominate your life. When he arrived at the White House a few hours later, Mr. Trump removed his mask before joining several masked people inside. The president was probably still contagious, as many patients can pass on the virus for up to 10 days after symptoms begin.
Scientists, ethicists and doctors were outraged by the presidents comments about a disease that has killed nearly 210,000 people in the United States.

Americans have never been afraid of any challenge. They have never backed down. We dont need to fear this virus. We need to respect the way it operates so that we can defeat it and move on from it. That takes leadership at a national, state, and local level working together. Absent leadership we see that this virus will continue to spread
