An Australian cartoonist said about tRump's illness.....

"Getting Covid is the most democratic thing Trump has ever done"

See it here: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/oct/05/getting-covid-is-the-most-democratic-thing-trump-has-ever-done

Best line, IMO from the cartoon:

"It doesn't matter if we laugh or cry, or if Trump dies. The fascism factory will extrude another just like him. And then another."

Sadly, I believe history has proven that statement to be true.

as far as I can remember. They used to not permit immigration or even visiting visas for anyone who wasn't white. They have prevented refugee ships from docking there. There have been scandals about people they agreed to accept being left in camps whose conditions would rival our southern border concentration camps.

But those cartoons are still funny.

Fascism already contains economic aspects, so I've no idea how "economic fascism" distinguishes itself from the whole.

As a whole, the human species is so gullible that an evil idiot like Trump can achieve power. And if an evil idiot can do that then think what an evil genius could achieve, especially after carefully analyzing what worked for Trump.

You can blame Putin and the electoral college for a good bit of it.

...to better contain, control, and make accountable any future Trump-like figures.

One thing our Constitution is very short on are remedies, meaning that it often isn't spelled out what can be done when the principles of the Constitution aren't followed.

We've relied greatly on Presidents following "norms" and "traditions". Trump, and anyone who comes along like Trump, laugh at such quaint notions. When the Constitution says they must do something, their response is "Go ahead and make me!"

I could go on and on about possible ideas, but the first that comes to mind is to make Congressional oversight of the executive branch more explicit, and give it more teeth. Give the Congress a small police force with the right and the power to seize documents, even arrest individuals who fail to respond to subpoenas. Limit "playing out the clock" so that any challenges to oversight must be quickly resolved, always erring in favor of the right to access if time runs out.

With some mechanism to prevent overuse and abuse, even allow minority parties in Congress rights to access information and witnesses that a majority in collusion with the Executive might otherwise deny.

We need national minimal voting standards to prevent voter suppression.

Establish clearer and greater independence of the Justice Department, so it can't easily be corrupted by the executive to help the President's friends, and punish the President's enemies.
I'd suggest getting rid of the Electoral College, and I'd gladly take that if possible, but the trick is you'd need too many of the small states who gain access to extra power via the Electoral College to willingly cede that power, and that's not too likely.
