The doctors only give that to people whom they assume will soon need a respirator.

Dexamethasone and Remdesivir are given only in the "late stage" infections. Remdesivir has been shown to not do much of anything in a mild infection.. The Steroid treatment is given (in low dose) to suppress the immune response to keep it from killing the body... but not so much as to prevent the immune response from fighting the virus.

We've come a long ways since February in our ability to treat this virus... that said, the stated treatment given to Trump indicates a very severe case.

Vitamin D - calcifediol
Zinc
Dexamethasone
Remdesivir

plus the experimental monoclonal anti-body treatment
(which is similar to plasma treatment from Covid-19 survivors)

... he could have been dead by now or on his way to that destination.

103 F degree Fever

cough

fatigue

dropping O2 levels

his doctors telling him "walk out today or be wheeled out tomorrow."

and some of the medicine he is using was permitted on a compassionate use application.

Making the doctors to give him all the drugs available, not that he necessarily needed them. He is out of the hospital already.
