Caught in their own web, tangled by their own tongues, hoisted by their own petard.
(Historical note: petard (French) = "little fart", an early hand grenade with an unstable detonator that often exploded at random, throwing its' carrier up into the air.)

Also, if both Repubs on the judiciary comm are out with Covid there is no Repub majority to move it out of committee. You cannot vote remotely in the Senate as you can in the House.

(3,435 posts)..social distancing, hand washing and perhaps gloves are needed when in close contact with evil repubs. Maybe garlic, a cross and silver spike will be needed just in case they get to close. .
