Oh BABY. South Carolina has allowed "State of Emergency" for mail-in ballots for Nov 3.

I didn't realize this had happened. Decision was apparently made on September 16. All registered voters can request a mail-in ballot, using "State of Emergency" as the reason.

And if you have ANY concerns about the mail, about your vote being received / counted, you request the application online, print it, fill it out, bring it to the voter registration office in person, get your ballot, vote, and return it in person at the voter registration office.

Deadline for this is Oct. 24 but I plan to do it this week.

This may seem like a "so what" to folks where absentee / mail voting is dialed in, but HERE. the requirements were rigid, and we DID NOT qualify. I was fully prepared to show up at the polling station on Nov. 3, but now that I don't have to, it lifts a great weight off of my mind.

My girlfriend said repeatedly that she wanted to go to the polling place to KNOW her vote would be counted, but if we do all of this in person at the voter registration office, the mail is circumvented and no longer a concern.

I wonder if SC is among them.

Perhaps not, given how vulnerable Lindsey is?

Regardless, good for you. This is how it should be.

Actually I don’t know for sure, but I expect it is not among them.

I'm not a "native South Carolinian." I've lived here five years. On one hand, it's home. On the other hand, I've lived here five years. But I think it's important to have a sense of local pride, no matter your tenure, and I do take representation of the state I'm in very seriously. We need better than a lap dog and golf buddy. Jaime Harrison has put in the "sweat equity" to become a viable candidate and solid alternative to this clown. Everything will be in a state of flux from now until November 3rd, but right now, they are neck-and-neck, and there is more than a "chance" that Harrison can defeat him. My vote will increase those odds. I can't wait.

or at least so I do.

I hate 2 faced backtracking, backstabbing hypocrites who can't come to turns with their own sexuality. There was a time that, while I disagreed with almost all of his policies, one could at least respect him and people like Mccain just a bit as patriots who loved our country. It's almost like they've been replaced by those body snatching pod people the transformation has been so complete.

But the surreal way he went from hell no never a disgusting con man like Trump will I ever support to licking the donald's footwear among other things was one of the most disgusting displays of hypocrisy this decade has seen yet. Well, except for the we never replace a SC Justice in an election year probably tops anything that now criminal political party, the once proud GOP has done this century

It was also almost like the Nevada Senator in Godfather 2 who was caught in bed with a very bloody and very dead sex worker. I mean Lindsey flip flopped over night and one has to wonder if something of that nature was being held over his head. Did he ever go to Russia like so many of his Repuglicant colleagues did?

One day some husky gay man is going to spill the beans on Lindsey and I'm going to guess the reveal will be his sissy boy alter ego. For those unaware of the LGBTQ community's term for self identified "sissy boys", who it's applied to and a definition thereof, please Google the term before accusing me of using homophobic language and stereotyping. It's a term used in the community, I didn't make it up and I have no objection whatsoever to the practice as long as consenting adults are involved and no one was hurt anymore than they wanted to be.

They will be setting up satellite polling places for a a week or so. One can vote the standard way, rather than casting a mail-in ballot. Check your county election office for places, dates and times. Not sure if you need to apply for an absentee ballot first, but the election office can answer that for you. I am considering this route, although I'll probably just vote on election day.

Unfortunately, it appears they have reversed the witness signature requirement again. Ridiculous. Anything to keep people from voting here...

Get right on it!
I am early voting in NY in person to avoid use of the mail and to make sure it counts right then and there.

I know we are a blue state, but we are in a red area and I wanted to avoid Election Day since it will be busier I am sure.

Sounds like they still recommend having a witness sign, because it's unclear what the final ruling is going to be.

"Step 1: Visit your county voter registration office or extension office.

Begins Monday, October 5.
Ends 5:00 p.m., Monday, November 2.
Step 2: Complete an application.

Step 3. Cast your ballot."

Handed in my ballot early, for the first time in my life. Handed it in at the county office, to avoid Louie DeJerk's corrupted USPS.

VA's changes were only possible because we flipped the legislature blue in 2019.
