(13,100 posts)hmm where are those illusive billions? more like in the red hundreds of millions under
ProfessorGAC
(65,647 posts)Except it wasn't.
The Moody's reports showed the asset value to be overstated by 20%.
When he first announced he claimed 10.2 in assets, 5.4 in debt.
With the pandemic driven devaluation of commercial real estate values, the assets are probably down another 19 or 12% and there is at least 1.3 billion in undeclared debt.
This genius turned $390 million into, at most, 700 million, or 80% gain over 30 years.
At best, it's a 2% ROIC over 30 years. A thirty year period where the major indices averaged over 10%.
He is, at best, a horrible financier. At worst, he's broke.

(18,047 posts)When comparing his debts to the market value of his assets, he's probably bankrupt. Being kept alive by refinancing debt endlessly and infusions of cash from his "investors", which is really just more debt he owes. He blew all of dad's cash and is in hock up to his orange eyeballs and beyond. Of course, some of his debtors collect with tea spiked with radioactive isotopes. And we thought loan sharks were tough.
If I were a regulator, I'd want to know why a financial institution was willing to extend hundreds of millions in additional debt to a business that's practically bankrupt. I'm sure that financial institutions shareholders would like to know too. Deutche Bank has a ton more explaining to do.

(117 posts)from providing a completely non-responsive answer that addresses a question that hasnt actually been asked?
Biden should hijack the first question and start his response by citing intervening facts that suggest criminal conduct by a sitting President and merit a response and further inquiry. Trump will respond fake news, and Biden should be prepared to pounce. It theater, and th epublic will be expecting it.
Mr.Bill
(24,438 posts)will steer the conversation back to the topic. Sure, you can get a jab or two in there, but I would rather see it presented as a separate and specific topic. Such as "The personal finances of the two candidates" or something like that.
Answering a question with a non-answer that tries to change the topic is not Biden's style. Nor should it be. Let's leave that to the Trumps and Palins of the political world.

(8,419 posts)If Fox doesn't bring this up then it is straight up malpractice. (Regardless Joe will anyway)
From a CBS News story on the debates. Seems to be relevant to Topic 1 doesn't it?
Format: The commission said that this debate will be "divided into six segments of approximately 15 minutes each." Wallace has chosen six topics, subject to change:
The Trump and Biden Records
The Supreme Court
COVID-19
The Economy
Race and Violence in our Cities
The Integrity of the Election
