Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe Atlantic article is one giant, unyielding, unrelenting avalanche of shit. Trump is inhuman.
I don't know why the article hit me the way that it did. None of it was "unexpected." But to see it in print, I walked away asking how the hell any active Military member or Veteran could vote for this walking, talking piece of excrement.
Context, for those who have no idea of what I'm talking about: https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/09/trump-americans-who-died-at-war-are-losers-and-suckers/615997/

(63,221 posts)How any member of the military could support him after this is just beyond me. Especialy coming from a massive coward and draft-dodger such as Trump. I cannot even express the depth of my hatred for this man.

(18,015 posts)They'd swear up and down it was a pack of lies. They really are that far gone. Unredeemable. To be honest, I don't know what the hell we're going to do with them even after Biden wins. Mass deprogramming? I don't know? It's like a damn, Jim Jones cult.

(51,675 posts)shocked that everyone is acting shocked over the same thing we have known for 4 years as least. He has told us over and over and over how he feels about the military so why is everyone in disbelief? Did they not believe him the first thousand times he said the same thing? Did they think he "would change"? My dog knew he felt this way so why is anyone "shocked" or in "disbelief"?

(4,612 posts)their lives for this country. There remains broad reverence across the US for those who have fully sacrificed themselves for us. To see someone treat that which is so solemn with such contempt is, even today, quite shocking.

(51,675 posts)He is beyond inhuman. He is a "thing" at best. Actually, he is what I scrape off of the bottom of my shoes. Seeing "IT" as anything except that is giving him too much credit. He isn't a piece of shit, he is a big pile of it.
And I am being extremely kind and generous too.

(5,815 posts)It was horrifying then and SHOULD have disqualified him on the spot for the role of Commander in Chief. And yet his supporters overlooked this blatant disrespect for a wounded and captured military hero. I dare them to overlook this latest insult to all of the military both retired and currently serving. If they do and make excuses for him or deny it, they will deserve everything they get from this monster. The rest of us dont deserve another four years of his sh*t.

(42,692 posts)Myeshia Johnson told ABCs Good Morning America in an interview that Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson was practically a member of their family and was among a group of people listening to Trumps call on a speaker phone as they drove to receive Sgt. La David Johnsons body.
The president said that he knew what he signed up for but it hurts anyway, Johnson said. And it made me cry because I was very angry at the tone of his voice and how he said it. He couldnt remember my husbands name. The only way he could remember my husbands name was he told me he had my husbands report in front of him and thats when he actually said La David.
Trump tweeted that Wilson fabricated his statement and the fight escalated through the week. Trump in other tweets called her wacky and accused her of SECRETLY listening to the phone call.

(1,946 posts)My family is full of vets...ww2. My mom's first husband, a West Point grad, was captured in the Philippines in 1942. He survived the Bataan death march and hideous prison camp conditions, and died on the Oryku Maru "hell ship", December 1944. My stepdad flew transport airships over the Himalayas. My mom was a captain in the Women's Army Corps. Her sister, my aunt, was a WASP pilot. My dad and uncle were military doctors in Europe. All of them were brave, decent people, and good citizens. Trump isn't worth the sweat off their backsides. In fact I can't even think of language that's derogatory enough.
