Question for Republicans: Why do you want a balanced budget?

You had one about ten years ago. What did you do with it? We could have had a balanced budget today. We could have paid off the entire national debt. We were well on our way. Please don't say 9/11 happened. Even though it did happen, most experts at the time say that it cost our economy about $250 billion dollars. But that is not the reason that today we have $16 trillion in debt, rather than a balanced budget. Hmmmm....I wonder what happened?

I'll tell you what happened. Trickle-down nonsense that you dumbasses fell for because some idiot named Ronald Reagan supported it. Now you support Mitt Romney, who wants to cut taxes by another $5 trillion dollars. Please tell me how you expect a balanced budget with that plan? Why do you hate this country?

People can talk until they are blue in the face and all you people do is close your eyes and put your hands over your ears. You don't want to hear the truth. You morons are destroying this country and everything we have built in the last 75 years, for your political ideology.

Yes, we had a balanced budget and were on our way to paying off the national debt but you buttholes destroyed it so we could give more taxcuts to your wealthy friends, who don't give one big crap about you. Didn't you listen to Mitt's speech behind closed doors?

So it's time to get your hate on once again. You say that "socialist" Obama is going to destroy our country. Look at all the debt we have run up since he came into office you warn.

And I would say to look beyond the nose on your face. The American people are not living high on the hog. Jobs have left this country, which is the fault of the elites in both political Parties, doing the bidding of Big Business. That has driven our wages down in the process, even as we have lost the jobs.

But I would also suggest that you look at Mitt Romney's tax returns. The guy has not worked in 6 years and just filed this years taxes. He says he paid 14.1% but the experts say it was much less. Do you really and truly think that is enough for the very wealthy to pay on $13 million dollars? Just what kind of country do you want? With this type of thinking, I don't think you should worry about the debt?

1. Imagine if Democrats played by the same rules as Republicans

Imagine if someone came up with a pledge virtually all Democrats signed that promised they would never vote to cut spending. Imagine if all Democrats banded together and agreed to block any and all legislation designed to cut spending in any way, shape, or form. Then imagine if the House Democratic Budget Committee chairman claimed to be a "bipartisan leader" after fanning the flames of partisan obstructionism for years.

We have to save the country despite them.

There's nothing we can say to them that will make them see. But they'll learn. One by one, they'll learn. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "experience is an expensive school, but fools will learn in no other."

unless the military is cut like 50 per cent, cutting 'entitlements' won't make a dent in the debt.

5. Their Saint Raygun ran up the largest debt in history.

Raygun created a debt so huge that we are still paying it off today. His debt was larger than all the previous administration's debt put together. And we didn't hear one little squeal from the RepubliCONS.

This federal deficit complaint is just another scam by greedy RepubliCONS and Democrats fall for it.

For eight years, they simply didn't give a single fuck while the Bush administration flushed trillions down the toilet. I believe the Vice President was famously quoted as saying, "Deficits Don't Matter," and this was a mantra regularly chanted by Rush Limbaugh and the FOX News pinheads.

7. They ran AGAINST a balanced budget in 2000

seriously.

People (in particular the "liberal media&quot have absolutely no memory when it comes to republican bull shit.

They spent the early/mid 90s railing against the deficit.

They VERY quickly veered to another, bizarre meme as the 90s were coming to a close in the face of Clinton actually balancing the budget.

All of their wackadoo AM radio profiteers (and as is the MO, following closely in line, the actual pols) started up with these wild theory that it is BAD for a government to have a balanced budget because government is so greedy that it will start buying up private business. This is for real, and what they were screaming about. Bush ran for president on not letting government horde our money and that that he would give us some of our money back. We all got two $1,200 bread crumb rebates (which were actually advances) to let the peeps feel good about the upper income tax cuts.

Bring this up today, and they will say it is a lie, or at best say, "BUT, WE ARE DIFFERENT!"

But, that is what they did.
