General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe media is creating a false issue that Harris won't have the support of some progressives
because she prosecuted minorities when she was a District Attorney. Should she have declined to do her job if a black or brown person was arrested and indicted for a crime? Unless they can credibly prove that she treated minorities more harshly than white defendants, their argument must fail. Im sure that minority victims did not complain when she enforced the law.

(10,252 posts)We already lived through how the RW demonized Hillary for 30 years, with the Russians piling it on in 2016.
We ain't gonna let them divide us on Harris.

(9,952 posts)We need to have that conversation often. Harris did not get much of a chance during the primary. Now with Dems together, maybe we can all support her on this.

(1,328 posts)The San Francisco Public Defender of 20 years who worked on the other side of the aisle from Kamala calls her fair and progressive.

(9,952 posts)the right and those opposed to her used it as a weapon. Women being powerful. I know they were always making absurd accusations and with HRC I was able to trust that the accusations were false. It is nice to have that confidence in our politicians.

(33,643 posts)The battle here is not for the sort of progressives that would outright not vote for Biden/Harris because she, you know, did her job.
Those folks are probably as unreachable as Cult45.
The message that she's no fan of lawlessness, and wasn't afraid to prosecute POC's even though she is one ... is overall a vote-winner, not a vote-loser. Esp. in the places we most need the votes.

(1,328 posts)Modern media loves stories with conflict in them. If necessary, they will invent conflict where there is none. I'm sure that right now numerous media analysts are looking for that one disaffected, Bernie Bro or Warren Wonk or Amy Somethingorother who is willing to play into the conflict story line. Thus a total outlier will help build the media narrative.
I'm guessing and pretty much sure that legitimate Bernie Bros are following Bernie's lead and supporting the ticket. Hell, they don't even need his lead. They want a progressive future and will do what it takes to make that happen. Their unwavering support for Bernie and his policies says that.
We should have had a betting pool on who got their first with this "issue".

(9,952 posts)Maybe we can have all Democrats get on the same page with this seeing it is not an issue. Harris did a good job, her job and is well respected and has no reason to "hide" her accomplishment. These are all the very subtle shades of a woman running. No mans careers are being called out. Klobuchar is too mean and Harris did her job.

(9,952 posts)She is like #3 or #1 in the Democratic party. I do not remember but I know she ranked high enough to not have to make excuse for being too right.

(9,111 posts)I didn't catch their names. One's was Yvette something. And they both said Kamala had some "work" to do with the black community because of her record as prosecutor. They both were definitely on the positive side about her, but they both brought up the prosecutor thing.
And they went almost straight out of the gate with that.
So, we can expect to hear about it. And I don't think either of those commentators are "far Left" (which seems to consist of whatever disagrees with moderates in the slightest).
Again, the two women were roughly 90% positive about her. But they both brought it up and outlined potential problems.

(34,119 posts)We may not all be happy with either of our candidates or only one and some will not like either of them but dammit, there are only a few that will not suck it up to vote out the monster we have now. They are all yelling now but my guess is they will settle in, either learn to like something about the ticket or just realize if they don't vote and/or don't vote for Biden/Harris we are doomed to suffer under the worst human being on the entire planet who will not only wreck us entirely but will wreck many of the chances other countries have of succeeding with what they actually did to try to make things better.
The media needs to shut up about this. They need to know and say that no matter what we think we are voting Trump out and will expend every last ounce of energy to see that happen.
LizBeth
(9,952 posts)I heard someone say something about our two imperfect compassionate people and trump mess, or something.
We always started with, HRC isn't perfect, But she is damn good.
No more. I do not have to qualify with a candidate not being perfect or they were not my choice. I too have been there, and I am done with that.
It is Biden/Harris and I am not putting anything in front of that to appease others or myself.
