3. Killing UI is political suicide

Why not come out against the tax free status of employer provided health insurance, or the home mortgage interest deduction? From a policy perspective those are probably good ideas. But politically doing that would be suicidal. Same with a democrat keeping unemployment benefits away from the unemployed

Congress has passed a relief package, now it’s up to the senate.

Surrendering to Trump would be despicable Cowardice, not political pragmatism.

5. No lawsuit, unemployed gets $400. Lawsuit wins, it becomes zero.

Obviously Pelosi, you and I favor more UI benefits than Trump does. But tens of millions who depend on UI benefits desperately need cash now. Under the Trump decree assume $400 goes into their bank account next week. If Pelosi sues and gets a court order to not make the payments then next week zero goes into the bank account. I think many unemployed people will be angry at Pelosi. Pelosi does not have to sue to block this. Many others will be happy to sue. I favor suing to stop this. To help achieve a better result. But some libertarian will sue if Pelosi does not. Let that person get blamed.
