(34,151 posts)I said when Bush**left but unbelievably I will mean it even more and I never thought that would be possible. "That's right. Get the f***out of our house and never ever come back."
With Cheney I spent about 30 minutes saying over and over, "Get a move on. Why is he still in there? He is in a wheel chair just shove him out already." Then, "Thank god he is in the chopper." "There it goes, lifting off. My heart is lifting off too."

(34,151 posts)was congestive heart failure because he presumably had a heart. Artificial now so no wheel chair.
I would never make fun of someone in a wheelchair either but this was probably brought on by his evilness and after all he has done to this planet and the people on it.....his disability lays in his heart in a much different way.

(11,760 posts)Donald Trump is a result of a culture of rot in this country. He is the end state of conservatism in my opinion. There have been threads where people say that we need an "opposition party" and that "good faith" conservatives should be that opposition, not this crazy Trump brand of politician.
Well, the sad news is that Donald Trump FIT INTO THE MOLD of conservatism as it is now. The party did not make itself into what Trump is.
Nixon did not have Fox News and right wing media to push his agenda or he would have gone further right than he did. Reagan as well, although he began the dismantling of government. We really stated to see the effects of conservative media during the Clinton was president and Gingrich was Speaker. We saw the development of K Street, We saw people like Dennis Hastert and Tom DeLay. We saw how a moron like George W Bush could be "elected" with horrible people like Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz, with Alberto Gonzales and John Yoo saying it's okay to torture.
Trump is destructive, but Mitch McConnell has had a stranglehold on the Senate since President Obama was elected and Republicans were the minority party.
It might be a relief that Trump is gone, but as long as there are ANY conservatives of the ilk of Rand Paul, Gohmert, Cruz, McCarthy, DeSantis, Rick Scott, etc... then we aren't going to be done with the damage that the GOP and conservatives have caused to this country.
We can celebrate but we have to focus on getting rid of all the corrupt people.

(61,721 posts)Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
