Is it something that would punish the Postmaster General, or would it just be costs incurred against the USPS?

(1,948 posts)My husband gets his meds from the VA. Twice, if not 3 times in the last 2 months he's had to go to the VA facility to get some of the prescription drugs to hold him over until the regular order arrives via mail. Because I have signed up for 'Informed Daily Digest' which is a USPS email notification service, I can see that there is a package from the place that actually sends out the meds, sitting at a facility in LA. It will be there in some limbo for over a week or more, before it finally starts being processed again. Previously it would take just a few days for the meds to arrive. Thankfully we live just 5 miles from the VA, so he can drive down and pick up the temp prescription himself. I don't know what people that live farther away would have to do!

(65,562 posts)Where is this grass roots of people who hate the post office?
Nowhere is my guess.
Disrupting the mail is the equivalent of waste drivers going on strike. It's just going to make people angry. (In the case of the strike, that's the point. Makes city government nervous.)
But, if swing voters now don't get bills on time, meds on time, and get late charges because their payments slow on delivery, the political backlash is easy to target.
This is just stupid.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
