Anderson Cooper performed a lengthy dissection of President Donald Trumps ongoing federal response to the coronavirus pandemic, pointing out that the White House intentionally leaked a political opp0-like hit on Dr. Anthony Fauci over the weekend while the president retweeted a bonkers conspiracy theory about the outbreak.
On Monday night, the CNN host opened his show with a in-depth look at the state of the Covid-19 pandemic and the White Houses contradictory guidance, even as the cases are skyrocketing in dozens of states. So who, exactly, is the president publicly endorsing for health advice about the pandemic, Cooper asked, after Fauci has been effectively frozen out of appearances on American TV news.
Admiral [Brett] Giroir, hes being allowed to appear on television and threw Dr. Fauci under the bus very quickly, Cooper remarked. Remember, this admiral not a Navy admiral, a public health admiral who gets a wear a uniform, he was the one supposedly the testing czar in charge of the diagnostic testing. Well, weve all seen how well that is going.

"The cream may not smell, but something sure does" after playing the Chuck's Blue Emu commercial.
Then the next guy goes, "Trump doesn't have a love connection with the truth".
Glad they are mocking him.

(82,849 posts)Giroir was tap-dancing as fast as he could. Guthrie wasn't really throwing hardballs, but Giroir didn't dare budge off his (presumably) administration-approved talking points. Several of his answers started off with "Look . . ." Guthrie's last question was about Trump's assertion last week that the virus would just go away, and the first word out of Giroir's mouth was, "Look," and I thought, "Here we go." After hemming and hawing, he hit the new talking point about how it was up to each of us to mask up and socially distance, then finally (finally!) begrudgingly admitted that the virus wasn't just going to go away without a lot of effort on everyone's part.
Really, Admiral? Five months in, and you can say that at long last? So, how is the administration going to help everyone to do this? Will the administration be helping people out financially? Will they put together and present a coherent plan for limiting the spread of the virus and give people and cities and counties and states back-up assistance? Remember how we the people bought the administration three months' time to get its act together? We endured a lot to buy you that time. During that time, the president pooh-poohed masks and social distancing, initiated endless useless squabbles about doing anything, and completely wasted the efforts of the people, all the while revving up the deplorable base and dividing citizens from each other.
Get a spine-oplasty, Admiral, and do your job, which doesn't equate to servile obedience to the witless whims of your boss.

I've watched his reporting from natural disasters and he really is a decent human being.

(11,645 posts)Starting with the disastrous covid response and then the ham handed at best response to racial protests, I have noticed Anderson Cooper who I used to feel was sort or a soft interviewer and both sideser has lost all patience and respect for Trump and the white house over the past few months.

Sometimes, he's at a loss for words and I appreciate that because that's how I feel lately.
