(9,657 posts)to protect ourselves, we need to count the votes openly, transparently by hand
obamas campaign did that in a way because the volunteers knew the precincts and what numbers to expect
diva77
(7,652 posts)the transparency aspect of precincts is gone.

(9,657 posts)if the counting at the mega polling place was paper and by hand ,and the checklist of how many voted was reconciled with the number of ballots openly I wouldn't have as much problem with the mega station as I do because of the counting machines now
in ky last week peops kept talking about machines at the mega place, were they paperless?
diva77
(7,652 posts)spreadsheet of them county by county on the website, but last time I visited, I could no longer find it.
Yah, HCPB is mostly extinct.
If you have HCPB at the precinct level and post the handcount at the precinct before communicating with any other precincts, that is the best case scenario. The more centralized the count is, the more corruptible.

I agree completely but if the mega had paper it would be better than paperless dre (if they actually let us count it)
I thought the ab ballets were a huge improvement in ky, I wish they were live streaming a hand count tho ( I can dream)

(9,657 posts)we need to sue them so we can count it

(7,652 posts)the DREs. Now they have to sue to get rid of the optiscans &/or do a recount.
I have to catch up with the latest.
It is so off the rails crazy -- the cheating and the purposeful complexity/chaos.

(9,657 posts)Hart Intercivic eSlate. The Hart InterCivic eSlate is a direct recording electronic voting system where the voter turns a Select Wheel and pushes a button to indicate her preferences. The eSlate is connected via cable to the Judges Booth Controller (JBC; image above) which provides vote activation and vote storage for up to twelve eSlates.

(10,279 posts)he hired Karl Rove, a Bush-Rubio loyalist.
Giving control to Rove will fail because:
-- Trump is smarter than Rove. Only Trump knows what turns on his base and Indies.
-- Trump has a more sensitive hand on the controls than Rove. Rove will be experimenting with herky-jerky moves that will make Trump look stupid.
-- Trump is committed to winning; Rove isn't. When the election is over, Rove will walk away with his paycheck, and Trump will walk away with bloody butt-hurt.

(790 posts)Conservatives had more $$s to slosh around, so young Karl joined the ranks of political opportunists, and never looked back. He's probably thrilled to be rolling in the mud with the hogs of the current syndicate, but he wouldn't have a splatter on his pink hide if the bucks weren't rolling in thick and fast.

Didn't the manly man's manwhore have almost 200 recorded trips to the White House (where Karl worked), with some visits showing no record of him leaving? Maybe he snuck out the side door, after hours....

(10,839 posts)Yeah, straight after we see pigs fly. Karl Rove can't make Trump into something he's not: rational, focused, disciplined. Karl Rove wasn't able to get Romney over the finish line in 2012 in a competitive race and with a reasonably rational & knowledgable candidate. The idea that Trump will conform to a narrow playbook is crazy in itself. And the economy? The true fallout has only just begun. Covid has again raised its ugly head with no signs of retreat. Then there's trying to paint Joe Biden as demented and enfeebled.
LOL.
Anyone listen to Biden's speech in Lancaster, Pa today? Compare that with Trump' rambling, incoherent spew in Tulsa where he spent 15 minutes explaining his weak West Point performance (Rampgate) and the fact he could drink water. With one hand, MOM!!!!
Nice venue, too. Russia Today is the first channel I tune in.

Step 2. Tell Trump he has to do what he says, he agree's, but doesn't do anything Rove says.
Step 3. Cash Trump's check.
Step 4. Resign.
Step 5. Write a book. Go on the circuit how Trump is unfit for the job.

(101,355 posts)The show saying "Rove Steps In" is base on this Politico article from the 17th June:
...
People familiar with his involvement said Rove has urged the Trump campaign to focus on defining the presidents plans for a second term, highlighting his challengers policy shortcomings and encouraging the president to moderate his tweets as much as possible. Recently, the president and his campaign have been deeply engaged on a mission to convince voters that Joe Bidens mental health is deteriorating thus making him unfit for office.
Karl Rove is a smart guy and he knows that if you sit by and let Trump go off the deep end with crazy tweets and an arena show, youre just killing our Senate guys, said a person involved with the Trump reelect.
In a statement to POLITICO, Rove said he has no involvement with the Trump campaign besides speaking to the presidents campaign manager and son-in-law every so often: I suspect Im one of a number of people whom Brad Parscale may call occasionally for reactions to a thought or idea on the campaign.

If he talked to them last month, then his suggestion to lay off "going off the deep end with crazy tweets and an arena show" clearly hasn't been taken up.
