Amazing. Great job. I now think it's going to be her. This person is brilliant. You can't listen to her talk and not get that.

(86,889 posts)She is intelligent, eloquent and has an international reputation that is good and sound because she reasons things out well. I just think that she would be ready to take the 3am call even today. People don't know her now but she is very appealing once you get to see/hear her.

(23,366 posts)Shes that polished and competent. Maybe thats the point.

(86,889 posts)She's definitely capable of handling the position, if anything should happen to Joe, I would want her in charge.

(86,889 posts)Tada! I was watching out for it earlier but i forgot all about it this evening. I've been trying to catch the news and lately the free live streams have been failing miserably and shutting down after a few minutes. It seems. also, that when someone with something important to say is tying to speak, things get all garbled or the feed is interrupted. Which made me do a lot of computer maintenance and I was thinking about that.

(5,524 posts)Congrats. I know I've read 40K+ posts and only wish I had started posting on this site years earlier.
That way I'd be among the ELITE like 2naSalt!!!!!!!
Hopefully I live long enough to get somewhere near your accomplishment.

I was sure you'd keep track!!!
Congrats!

(86,889 posts)It was your experience that made me pay attention to mine!
Truth is, as I mentioned, I was concerned about recent computer maintenance and had just logged back in. And I wasted it on an insignificant post! Aaaagh!
Oh well, now we have 50K to look forward to!
See you there!

(8,082 posts)from day one, and she's not a divisive personality. I'm afraid the DNC has decided on Kamala Harris, but I'd much rather see Rice.
2naSalit
(86,889 posts)but if Sen. Harris is the choice, I can see Ms (Amb.?) Rice as Sec of State. Either way, I would gladly support the pick. One thing I know about Ms. Rice is that she has worked with VP Biden for years in various official positions and they have the kind of relationship that Obama and Biden have.
BComplex
(8,082 posts)She's definitely not my choice, but I can tell by the hard sell going down from on high that she's probably already picked.

(4,572 posts)this would be a fitting F.U. to "them."
F Benghazi and her son is an adult who is free to make up his own mind as to what he believes regardless of the opportunity his parents afforded him. She is who she is and as it turns out, she is a very astute and valuable person to hold high office and we need her expertise which could fulfill the need in several positions.

Who are both black, btw, and I'd like to see an African American woman in the White House, especially during these times.
Emmett J. Rice
University professor
Emmett John Rice was a governor of the Federal Reserve System, a Cornell University economics professor, an expert in the monetary systems of developing countries, and the father of President Barack Obama's National Security Advisor, Susan E. Rice.
Lois Rice
Lois Ann Dickson Fitt Rice was an American corporate executive, scholar, and education policy expert. Known as the mother of the Pell Grant because of her work lobbying for its creation, she was national vice president of the College Board from 1973 until 1981.
All this was on Wikipedia.
I don't know how to post pictures on DU, but they're both strikingly handsome, as is their only child, Susan.
I just like the vibe her family puts out there, and Susan writes about them in her book "Tough Love". She's just a very fine woman.

(3,330 posts)I had been thinking that Benghazi was her downfall and would be the reason she would not be the pick. BUT, the GOP cannot attack her on the 4 dead Americans there without catching return fire of 120,000 dead Americans now and 200,000 dead Americans by the Fall due to Trumps delay and bungling of the Corona Virus.

(11,404 posts)Gowdy, Ghomert, McCarthy, Cotton .. are frankly an embarrassment to the party. Anybody that is still dancing to this tune 7-8 years later .. is a low info mouth breather.
Summarizing: Susan Rice doesn't cost the ticket a damned thing! Don't even go there.

(6,139 posts)seems like top priority for her. brilliant and often overlooked way for dems to gain more senate and house seats. It seems much easier to accomplish than abolishing electoral college. She seems pretty pragmatic, I think a good choice for VP. In which case, Kamala should be AG.

(16,646 posts)Which means absolutely nothing of course. But she has national security experience and executive branch experience. I suspect the Bengazi thing ran its course and most won't remember it.

(14,565 posts)Considerably more polished and genuine. Not a gotcha type. Incredible reservoir of knowledge and ability to seamlessly weave an argument.
Basically a black Hillary Clinton but without the quarter century of unfair baggage. I think her personality and approval would hold up well under assault.
Definitely fits better than Kamala Harris in respect to winning terms on her own. That California liberal stuff is going to stick, especially if attached to someone who will have trouble relating to swing voters.
I hope Biden relies on guts and not fear. This is a Hillary/Barack caliber individual.

(8,082 posts)She wasn't high up in the primaries, and there just wasn't the love for her that the party needs to be setting up for the first female president of the USA. Kamala isn't there. After the rest of the country has 4 years of her as vp, they're definitely not going to want her as president. The party democrats would, but the country wouldn't.
Unfortunately the party democrats are a cliquish group. Being cliquish at the tops of the parties is what made republicans rebel and create the Tea Party, and then when that didn't work well enough, they go and elect an orange asshole for president.
The Democratic party DNC clique is SO MUCH BETTER under Tom Perez. But I really wish they'd back off Kamala.

(39,392 posts)Rice has operated at the highest levels of government for years and she is a deeply serious person. Note, for those of you who say SoS but forget VP, that those were two domestic issue questions and she aced them with ease.
Biden is a return to sanity. Rice fits. He is leading and she reinforces the brand. I dont think he needs to take someone who seals the deal with wavering black voters; theyre already in his corner. He is the nominee because they supported him. He needs to show them respect, not romance them. He needs a partner who he trusts, has confidence in, wont have to get to to know better and/or worry about. I hope he picks her.

(8,082 posts)I know Kamala's fans are really pushing her, but the masses aren't into her. She's going to hurt the ticket, even for a lot of hard-core democrats. That's why she never went that far in the primaries. We don't like her.

has a warmth about her that Rice lacks, IMHO. I think Kamala is also well spoken and polished.
I'd be happy with either choice, however.
