A silver SUV hit two demonstrators at protests in San Jose on Friday night, and the San Jose Police Department is investigating the incident.
Videos from the scene show the SUV driving around a group of protesters at the intersection of Sixth and Santa Clara streets, as a person in the passenger seat appears to trade insults with the demonstrators.
Projectiles are then thrown at the SUV before it accelerates into reverse, running over one protester and knocking another one onto the ground. (WARNING: The video contains graphic content.) The current condition of the two individuals hit by the SUV is unknown.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office announced that one of its deputies was involved in a "shooting in the area of Sixth Street and Santa Clara Street," at 9 p.m. Friday, and the Mercury News and KTVU reported the deputy was firing on the SUV as it fled the scene.

(86,816 posts)I just saw an image of police vehicles purposely driving into crowds. Wonder if they shot at themselves. I was doing a quick look through and did not take notice of where it happened. Yet it happened.
