(6,831 posts)I can't even look at the pictures of these things without feeling the panic rising in me.
I am deathly allergic to wasp/hornet venom. I carry an EpiPen with me all year round. Laugh at me in January, but that kit goes everywhere I do. Keep one by the front door, one by the back door, one in the car. I've been stung three times, each one worse than the last. Came close to dying the last time. Fortunately, I was right across from the Base Clinic. They knew me and they knew my susceptibility. That syringe was HUGE and they stuck it right through my uniform, didn't even bother taking off my clothes. Of course, I was slowly turning blue and had stopped breathing.
If I even saw one of those Japanese Murder Hornets, I'd probably just die of cardiac arrest, wouldn't need to get stung. But they're here now in Whatcom County (and Skagit County as well). Looks like I'll be spending this summer indoors. Maybe I should stock up on more EpiPens, just in case. Strap one on the dog, too.
