Texas Moron Lt Gov Dan Patrick questions the science and insists that "There are more important things than living ... I don't want to die, nobody wants to die but man we've got to take some risks."
Good luck, Texas.

(12,712 posts)A part of survival, (which I think qualifies as "living" is both risk assessment and management. It can even be instinctual.
Our species is here right now because of our ability to respond or react to threats as needed.
Just living itself is a risk, (we don't have to invite any more than we have) but the point of having a society and government is to lessen the risk to citizens for the sake of survival, health, longevity and all what goes with order and structure, not the political chaos these malignant jesters are creating.
One big risk is having people like Lt. Gov Dan Patrick in a position to make decisions or influence people. I call bad stewards who do not put their constituents lives first and foremost a huge risk.
I don't think that anyone can argue, (unless they crave release from the mortal coil) that when you are dead none of that will matter, so in that case, on the whole, life is more important. Without it. There is just a big, round rock in space and dead silence. Gee, where did all the consumers go? An economy of amoebas perhaps?
Lt Gov Idiot is a threat to society and a virus enabler.

(22,976 posts)Zealotry blinds one to reality. Its a closed circuit from which theres no escape, except a death which has been sold as a complete upgrade to this world, and its only available on the other side.
But unlike Trumpists, an open (and yet critical) mind continuously unlocks doors in the psychic vault. It receives and transmits new information constantly. It grasps science and objective events. It comprehends that this is it. It does not want to be snuffed out until nature (and ones own will) says, Its been a helluva ride, but its time to let go.
Short answer: Dan, youre an idiot.

(11,744 posts)What the Trump supporters do is actually, live in denial and a fantasy world. It isn't welcoming death, it is denying in an irrational way, that it could happen to them. They aren't necessarily brave or even fatalistic. They just lack logic and as you said, critical thinking skills.

I want to see every republican politician out there, in public, going to bars, restaurants, concerts, sports events, shaking hands, hugging people, etc. After two months, if they are all doing fine, then the rest of us will know it's safe to go out as well.

(11,744 posts)That is what asshole Patrick is talking about. He is talking about sending people to die for money. Specifically for the money that will save the chances of Trump and the GOP to remain in power.
That is definitely not worth dying for.

Sure, staying at home is boring and frustrating, but it's uncomplicated and fairly easy to comply with the safety protocols established by the science experts who say be safe and stay home.
Be responsible. Stay home and stay safe for the sake of everyone else.
