This country is re-learning what it understood during the Cold War we dont elect presidents for the good days, we elect them to handle the bad days. Donald Trump is incapable of handling a bad day, let alone a protracted pandemic. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), quoted by NBC News.

I'm shocked that a president elected based on an agenda with these as VITAL ISSUES can't handle a measly little virus.
Shocked.

(63,221 posts)It seems like we have so many great Democratic politicians - Senators, Reps, Governors, Mayors - yet we could not come up with a very good selection for a presidential candidate this time around. Of course I will enthusiastically support Biden, but there are so many others out there who are younger, charismatic, competent and promising.

(36,615 posts)I will also enthusiastically support Biden and agree it would have been nice to see someone younger as our candidate. IMO, the old guard has too much history with the old republican party and I'm not sure they see their colleagues across the aisle as the right wing extremists that they've become. When Biden commented that he would work with repubs it left me wondering if he sees the repub party for what it was 40-50 years ago, not what it has become. They aren't going to work with Biden or any other dem prez any better than they did with Obama.
