The media needs to stop calling them "briefings". They're not. They're campaign presentations.

When people praise a political candidate, that's a campaign spot.

When a candidate boasts about their record, their skills, their talents, their accomplishments, whatever, that's a campaign spot.

When political donors get praised and get airtime and recognition, that's a campaign event. In fact, it *has* to be a campaign event, because of it's an official event, then the officeholder is trading official acts for private gain, which is unethical if not illegal.

The network airtime should be considered a contribution-in-kind to Donnie's campaign.

Better yet, they should just ignore this crap, or give equal time to Biden.

They do provide some info as to what happens if one cuts through BS and obsequiousness. It also forces the trump admin to try harder. For those reasons, I hope they continue.

First, it's helping his campaign directly simply because it's free. He reaches more people and doesn't have to pay for it.

Second, "no such thing as bad press," and Donnie certainly capitalizes on that. By November, when the virus is mostly under control (hopefully), he'll be able to claim that he was busy "doing stuff" and some people will think oh I guess he was part of the solution. Hey, it worked for ghouliani after 9/11....

There is bad press, and he’s getting a load of it.

His political strategy, to the extent you could say he has one, is largely to give up on swaying anyone's opinion and instead focus on firing up those who already side with him, to make sure they donate and vote.

He's trying to position himself as someone who saved America from disaster. Part of that is for the disaster to seem and even to be as big as possible, but for him to be doing things that, come November when things are getting better, his people will remember him as having been the man in charge.

He knows the Media will cover him daily since he threatened their FCC licenses . And Biden can not afford the Media buy time on a daily basis.

or rather, that they think there's nothing to be learned from their abysmal campaign coverage in 2016.
