(1,671 posts)on Friday, March 20 before the county had its 1st positive case to allow time for remote learning, childcare and meals for children to be setup and implemented. If the county had its 1st positive case, the closing date was going to be moved up to Wednesday, March 18. We got our 1st case on Monday, March 16, and the County Executive shut everything down that day. He's had very informative and reassuring daily pressers like Gov. Cuomo.
The first 2 people to test positive for Covid-19 was a husband and wife in their 70s who had no recent travel history so our medical experts knew it was already in the community. I think the oldsters decided to take it seriously right then and there, too.
