(58,773 posts)but I do miss my weekly breakfast with my brother. We're both in the at risk age group, though of course.
And the restaurants are closed anyway.

(53,342 posts)By Tuesday last week people were already complaining about restaurants, gyms, bars, etc

(28,867 posts)I wonder if those wanting bars open are actually claiming to be self- quarantined
Or actually going to work themselves.
I heard some leader today, Its like spitting on all of us. Which I agree with
Ive been chided in my belief that its not as bad as they want us to believe. However, I follow all the guidelines and havent left the house for almost two weeks. Because, I might just be wrong. And if I am, Im not going to be responsible for hurting someone who believed Im full of it.

(3,752 posts)There are people who are uncomfortable in their own skin, their own 'being'.
There are some people who are so boring that they don't want to be alone with themselves.
The need for constant stimulation, entertainment, diversion...is a debilitating human condition.
Others, a few, are OK with/in stillness, silence and self.
Self-distancing is compassion for others; it is 'love'. The corona virus offers humanity the opportunity to stop, turn away from the ephemeral and unreal (like the DOW) and embrace the commonality of the condition called humanity.
Perhaps we will ultimately see humanity blossom in the fertility of a world of humility.
Generations in the future may talk about the "karunavirus" that brought social salvation to a world where every one still dies, but no one chooses to kill.

(115,976 posts)My only problem is that I feel guilty for having the luxury of staying home while a lot of other people don't - including those who deliver stuff I need so I don't have to go out.

(31,542 posts)or even self isolation, if need be. They are concerned about me being alone so they have decided that I should split my time between their homes. I am more fortunate than many people I know.

My wife and I are working (no really I am) and my daughter has school work to do.
We went for a drive and a picnic in the car at a plantation on the river this weekend.

(31,542 posts)I have taken off work while we see how this is going to shake out. My boss will be able to cope while I'm gone and understands my decision, but it is more work for him. He is over 60, as well, and knows that we are in a high risk category.
The last week must be what retirement will be like and I don't know that I'm ready for that yet.

(62,478 posts)So the Frank family ordeal has been on my mind during this time.
They only had a radio which could be played only at certain times. We have TVs and cable & internet among other diversions.
We also have a megalomaniac leader to fear like they did, though.

(33,222 posts)Give it another few days and those people who are fortunate enough to self-isolate will be glad they did so...

(9,953 posts)paroll. They gave me two weeks. I am hoping it so slow, and things went so well that they give me another two weeks. Because I think we get to the height of it mid April.

Please, take care of your health.

(9,953 posts)We will really see stuff happen and can reassess. And assured him I can be out two months. I feel safer, more comfortable sitting in my home.

(18,672 posts)So far I've re-arranged my kitchen, cleared off my treadmill and have been jumping on it during my work breaks while working from home. I've also been getting creative in the kitchen to ensure I don't waste any food since I can't shop for awhile. Right now I'm dehydrating citrus peels for tea. My dog thinks it's jerky and keeps barking at me to give him some since that is what I mostly use the dehydrator for.
