(4,612 posts)A virus like this is not going to phase them or change their behavior and I'm not sure it's fair to expect otherwise. Young adults that fully understand the implications of the virus, beyond their own general lack of vulnerability, are pretty enlightened.
Young adults don't vote, they drink till they pass out, they jump off tall things and they go to war willingly. They don't understand mortality (as if any of us truly do).

(23,364 posts)My theory: If you want a serious news item, don't interview drunk college kids.
But, my degree's not in Journalism, so what do I know?
I'm sure he's reached "rock star" status at his college, his fraternity.
Stay safe.

These folks may find a lot of doors locked for a very long time.

(13,783 posts)... about the defiant Baptist service of 10,000 people. There's a post today about a 3 seating revival. Then Rachel a few nights ago showed Florida almost solid red with unusual temps recorded on a certain brand of thermometer. And then the photos of crowds on the beaches. I'm sure the recent rise in percentage of people infected under 45 is because we oldsters were smart enough to start staying home.

(6,150 posts)It's gonna get worse.
Any college that stays open after spring break is going to get hit. And the employees of that college, the janitors, the food servers, are going to get hit.
And the schools that quarantine - the kids are going to take it home to their parents.
Give it a week.
It's going to be ugly.
If we're able to test, I'm going to guess that we're at 200,000 by March 30th, and in all the little obscure college towns in all the little states that with the MAGAts that thought it was a liberal hoax and aren't doing social distancing, and are going to their megachurches and praying to god and tithing to make sure they don't get it.
