(4,325 posts)After that, you are venturing into massive civil unrest territory.
Better think of something else.

(1,206 posts)The first (which of course leads to the second) is the absolute and utter collapse of the economy.

(5,257 posts)He was quoted in the L.A. Times as saying:
"We know that this will be a series, I believe not just of weeks but of months, hopefully one or two months that we will be living with I know extremely stressful and different time, but there is plenty of food for now, during and after," Garcetti said. "There is no public safety emergency... this is a health emergency."

(86,900 posts)Shelter in Place and was specific about being able to still go out just not to venues or groups.
He's very intelligent. He said during a presser on Wednesday that "shelter in place" is a misnomer and this Safer at Home project is different. He explained it at length and in detail. I was impressed and frankly, it was comforting.

(3,045 posts)There are children and women in abusive and neglectful Holmes. And now will be even more stuck in them. There are people in high-rise buildings who dont have backyards to go out and get some fresh air in. And those are often in inner cities that are also food deserts. If you want a Powderkeg and you want a whole bunch of mental health crisis and domestic violence uptiicks then yes do this for months.
The cure might be worse than the disease.

(1,351 posts)If Shelter-in-Place lasted for months the economy would collapse to the point that far far more deaths would be happening due to the measures taken to stop the spread. The good news is you didn't die of coronavirus! The bad news is you're going to die from being homeless, no healthcare, can't afford your insulin, can't afford heart meds, abusive husband, yada yada yada.
So I think (hope) they are taking all of that into account. I think if they find a drug to treat this disease with a high success rate they will ease up. Then hopefully we have a vaccine before this hits again next year. That's what my hope anyway...
