John Rich will keep paying workers in his Nashville bar, challenges other owners to do same

(John Rich is one half of the Big and Rich singing duo, for those who don't follow country music. He also owns a bar in Nashville's lower Broadway tourist zone).

..."With no money coming in, obviously all the money moving around is going in one direction, and that's out," he told The Tennessean. "And you don't know how long that's going to be for. It could be for a few months, potentially. But I would urge, and I would even go so far as to challenge other business owners on Broadway in my entertainment bar/nightclub sector, to reach into your pocket and take care of your people ...

"Are you going to tell 75 to 80 people, 'Sorry guys, good luck out there?' No. I actually know my bartenders and my servers and my sound guys and managers. I know those people, and it's just not going to happen."

For bartenders and other employees that make their living from tips, Rich says "we'll find that average over the last two or three months and that's what they're going to get paid."

Meanwhile, the music will keep playing at Redneck Riviera. Starting Wednesday, the bar's house bands will stream performances live from the building, and viewers will be able to "tip" the musicians via Venmo."....(more at link above)

I know quite a few restaurant and bar owners here in my Midwest City and probably 95 percent of them are barely getting by as it is. They would love to keep paying their employees but don't have a music career to support them all. They have to lay them off just to pay the rent so the restaurant can open again in a couple of months, if those people are still unemployed they would love to have them back but they aren't rich by any means.
