So how is a tax cut going to help us with Covid-19?

I saw trump's tax cut solution this morning and I was floored, especially since I am still waiting for the last one to help me.

I am so glad we have Speaker Pelosi and not Speaker Ryan now.

Can't get healthcare, lost your job, losing your home, family members sick, can't buy food?

Don't worry. All those STILL working will have less withholding from their pay. Problem solved!

Let them eat cake!

It could actually have some impact but that will mainly be on the margins.

They can waive a percentage of the Social Security withholding thus depleting the Trust Fund faster. Then on the backside when the Trust Fund is gone the benefits are reduced by a 1/3rd if the law is not changed. We should make voters aware of that. Someone (ie the middle class) gets to pay in the end anyway. Of course the Trump voters will probably be dead by then anyway given their higher age demographic.

when he starts handing out the tax cuts to working people.

I'm sure he's hoping it's going to get him re-elected.

But I'm also sure it's going to mean short-falls in the revenue that pays for SSI and Medicare. He's already said he's going to cut those programs. This will give him license to cut them even deeper.

democrats to deny based on exploding the deficit more. The crashing market made them play it sooner as a way for market to find "good news" to rally around. Of course it has nothing to do with coronavirus OR the market forces on crashing the market.

The dems need to double down, throw more taxcuts out there and make trump and GOP deny them. If they don't,well its a win for dems for sure in spite of massive deficits it will cause. That can be fixed after biden and democrats take over congress and the whitehouse

They call it the payroll tax. They want to attack social security from every angle.
It will be the second time in this administration.

Also he is USING this virus crisis to do it.
He mentioned back in Nov/Dec that he was already thinking of this.
As a stimulus.

Why can't we all get together with messaging.
NO to Defunding Social Security !!

Probably because many at first glance do not get what it is...

He cut this once before for us peons when he gave the tax cut to the rich. It was to bump up peoples paychecks and make them think they got a tax cut like the rich, so it did that but was also a 9 month cut to the FUNDING OF SOCIAL SECURITY.
This shit needs to stop.

of his no substance bluster, another desperate attempt to stop the selling. He has no idea what to do and just continues to throw unrelated stuff at it hoping something will stick. My guess is after "he meets with Senate Republicans" it will be nothing. This man is incapable of effective ideas or solutions.

Then people will feel more comfortable when they inevitably have to take time off work.

Pay people's mortgages like they're doing in Italy, then people will feel less obligated to work after they get sick.

In my family, this is: my brother, my cousin, my niece and nephew.
