I am usually not worried about the viruses that come ago, but...

this one has me worried. I have issues with COPD and not in the best health these days. Not only me, my mother who is in her early 80’s and in the best health either. I would hope and pray no one gets caught up in it wrath. We all need to take this seriously. Just the WH does too!

that would make any flu extra bad I would say to stock up and stay home as much as possible.

COPD is a bad one to get all flared up, age for your mother is scary but you know all this. I do not know how this will go here, the bug does not seem all that bad but it is always worse if you have conditions like yours and auto immune diseases etc. My biggest worry is that this is not that big of a deal but will become one because USA! MAGA! and no real thought about listening to those who could see what to do and get it implemented.

You take care, the rest of us have less to worry about I think. We will see.

Good thing you are smart and able to take care of yourself. Those who are not might have some problems. Be well and safe!

Make sure you keep your steering wheel clean and your gear sticks, etc.

I’m sure you know all this. I would clean up the interior of your cab thoroughly. I’ve heard that 60% alcohol based cleaners are the best.

Hand sanitizer wipes for the elderly and kids will help too. Just set them up with the sanitizers so they’re in view and everywhere make sure there’s plenty of trash cans around. Both the sanitizers and trash cans will remind everyone to clean up if they’re in full view.

But now that Trump said a miracle will happen and it could disappear, I'm terrified...

I've come to the conclusion, that there is little I can do to control this. I am disabled and mostly housebound but my husband works with the school system. He also is one of those happy cheerful types who tends to believe bad things won't happen. I know he's washing his hands a great deal which is a relief. I've made sure we have enough food to keep us going for a while in the event we need to both remain in. I've made elderberry syrup, have a supply of musinex and bleach....and just hoping for the best...There is nothing more I can do

FDA Reports First Drug Shortage Due to Coronavirus, Far Earlier Than Expected
By Josh Nathan-Kazis
Feb. 28, 2020
https://www.barrons.com/articles/fda-coronavirus-drug-shortage-due-to-covid-19-earlier-than-expected-51582898744
In a statement, the FDA commissioner, Stephen Hahn, said that a drug manufacturer had “just notified” the FDA that a shortage recently reported to the agency was due to an issue manufacturing the drug’s active pharmaceutical ingredient at a facility affected by the new coronavirus.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In an interview early Friday, Michael Ganio, the director of pharmacy practice and quality at the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, a professional organization, said the FDA hadn’t provided enough information about the shortage to know how serious it was.

“We would like more information,” he said. “We would like to know, just for planning purposes.”

But other than take reasonable precautions that you are able what else can you do? That is what is so frustrating to me about all of the panic regarding to this...there is only so much that any one of us can do. Obviously we can't force a corrupt and inept government to take the necessary measures to minimize the impact. It could be bad. It could be as bad as the 1918 flu epidemic. Or it could be worse. So plan appropriately and stay as healthy and hydrated as you can. Avoid unnecessary public interactions (practically impossible i know). Keep your hands away from your face.
And hope for the best.
