I hope. Unless Trump does something extreme like declare martial law and send all registered Democrats to re-education camps.
Anyway, I figure things arent going to get so chaotic that my flight is canceled. I plan to wear a mask when I land in Tokyo. This isnt to protect me - Im not naive about the efficacy of drug store masks. I will wear it as a courtesy and sign of respect and concern for my hosts.
Fortunately I had a 3-pack from years ago in my cupboard. Apparently every drug store is sold out and I heard even Amazon is sold out. Id bet there is a price gouging frenzy on eBay right now. Isnt capitalism wonderful?
I am concerned about returning from Japan. I have a ticket from Tokyo to Honolulu in mid April. If incoming flights from Japan are banned, Ill be stuck watching cherry trees bloom. As long as I get back in time to vote, itll be okay.

I'm ready to see cherry blossoms, tulips, crocuses, and daffodils. Heck, I'd be glad to see sunshine for two days in a row and roam around my favorite nursery.
Have a safe and healthy trip!

(1,373 posts)and I hope that it all goes well and your concern about your hosts perception is admirable.
But, why I add to this post is what you commented on about sending Democrats to re-education camps.
It struck me that this could be in reference to the North Vietnamese camps for those in the South that had supported that regime and an attempt to re-integrate them into the new situation that they faced. I am sure that it wasn't all a compassionate or effective method to do so and that many suffered. The reason I mention this is for comparison purposes.
The approach that the right wing- ie Fascists - take to this problem of re-integration is much simpler and much less compassionate. They just send them to camps to kill them.

(1,373 posts)My point was to draw a comparison between those who value others- like Democrats and most compassionate human beings- and our current crop of Republicans and Fascists.
