(22,509 posts)NEW DELHI President Trump addressed the largest crowd of his political career Monday, celebrating the relationship between the worlds oldest and largest democracies during a speech to a stadium crowd of more than 100,000.
Speaking in 86-degree heat in Ahmedabad, Trump avoided the more charged, controversial rhetoric that typically marks his rally speeches back home, but there was no absence of hyperbole as he and his host, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, lavished praise on one another and offered unbridled optimism about a growing partnership and increased cooperation between the two nations.
Indias rise as a prosperous and independent nation is an example to every nation in the world and one of the most outstanding achievements of our century, Trump said. Its all the more inspiring because you have done it as a democratic country. You have done it as a peaceful country. You have done it as a tolerant country.

(269,278 posts)I walk and exercise, watch game shows and sports. Fuck Trump.
You know when the people started to walk out? A good friend sent this to me
The walk out started early in Trump's speech when he said that every Indian village have electricity and internet, thanks to Modi's govt.

...And extremely difficult for him to dispute.

(21,597 posts)At the event, NPR even managed to find and interview an Indian-American woman who claimed to be a Democrat who had voted for Trump.
Not one word about Trumps lies or the crowd leaving in droves.

(333 posts)And rump is giving him 3 billion dollars. Another supreme example of rump's poor judgement. All anybody has to do his make him believe you love him and he'll give you the world. Books have been written stating that world leaders believe that jared kushner and trump are a couple of soft touches who can be sweet-talked out of anything. I would not be giving Modi any money until he does something to remedy the religious persecution that's going on in that country.

(21,765 posts)People are not fleeing Trump, much as I wish it were so. They are leaving early so they don't miss their buses home. All the media are reporting a warm reception for Trump and large crowds. He is apparently well liked there.
Think about it. In an election year he would be sure to choose a place where his reception provides a good image of himself.
My first thought on his India trip was that it took him a little closer to China. Not close enough to expose him to a spreading virus, but with so many people around, who knows if any of them have had first or second hand contact with someone or something from China? But, since Trump is such a germophobe, he no doubt has made sure that India has no cases and takes extra precautions. He will have very limited foreign and domestic travel plans this year.
Wonder how the concern for possible viral exposure will affect his plans for rallies in an election year.
