(14,913 posts)Alex Carey said that the people of the US have been subjected to an unparalleled, expensive, 3/4 century long propaganda effort designed to expand corporate rights by undermining democracy and destroying the unions. Careys unique view of US history goes back to World War I and ends with the Reagan era.

(19,993 posts)it's probably the case that since the military draft ended in 1973 many young people like Dump and his base knew they would never have to serve or sacrifice anything for their country. They could focus all their time and energy on one thing: making money. Government and its regulations and taxes just got in the way of their greed. When government becomes the "enemy" to growing numbers of voters trying to become billionaires as it has at least since Reagan, Dump or somebody like him with little or no understanding or appreciation for the role of government is probably inevitable.
