Attorney General William Barr has issued new restrictions on opening investigations into politically sensitive individuals or entities, including a requirement that he approve any inquiry into a presidential candidate or campaign.

Sounds to me like Barr will become the sole gate keeper to oversight.

(12,712 posts)So is Barr his Martin Bormann or his Heinrich Himmler?
I'm going with Bormann at this point. Since there were about ten really powerful members of the inner circle, we should see more henchmen of a similar type as his Orange Reich unfolds.

(9,037 posts)no more last-minute investigations too close to the election. Of course, if Barr were only to approve investigations of rivals, then we'd have a problem.
This should apply to the FBI, which is under DOJ, but not Congress.

(3,246 posts)I think he would welcome an investigation at the last minute if it helped Trump against a rival. Also, it could very will hamper Congress from investigating. What if Congress wanted to use the FBI to assist in an investigation?
