It also aligns with some of the articles about trends in how the Senate is stacked against Democrats more and more due to demographic shifts.

I suspect it has more to do with the National average rising overall rather than rates actually falling in the rural areas.

One of the reason I picked my new home is that it is near a State University. Best of both worlds.

Convince the ignorant hicks to vote for them?

Sounds awful right?

We’re not passing an amendment to change how senators are distributed any time soon. So what do we do about it?

Attitudes like I made fun of above don’t help.

What would we do to democratic policies to focus on attracting rural voters?

For one thing make college freer for professionals who work in rural communities. Doctors, teachers, lawyers who else?

Training and certifications/licensing for jobs that are available but maybe also for jobs that could be.

Exchange students. It’s more important to do it between urban and rural communities than countries at this point.

How do we win more state elections?

1. the % of 'murkins with bachelor degrees in 1970 wasn't that high to start with.
2. the 'murkin population has also migrated to urban areas.

so, the higher the % of the population in the city means the % of bachelor degrees expands exponentially there.

on the other hand, I can't live in a large city...it just feels too closed in. I like having a yard and dogs.
