and Sean Hannity may have to eat shit and die.
Furthermore, Trump's SOTU speech might be given under the cloud of an ongoing impeachment trial..
So fuck him. Twice.

(42,770 posts)If there had been 2-3 yrs left in his term and he had a winning VP. A no today means they know Pence can't win in November and not enough time to groom someone new and jeez what if the crazies nominate Pence instead of their new guy. This timing was always against us.

I'm just guessing on this though. Someone was talking about how the Senate is different from the House in that the minority has a lot more power in the Senate.

(82,849 posts)Trump tweeted GAME OVER just this morning.
There's not much in this episode for folks who care about the country and the Constitution to enjoy, but if Trump has to hang fire for a couple more days, that suits me just fine.

(6,450 posts)ME TOO! And dammit, IT DIDN'T WORK! And I always miss the best parts! LOL. Seriously though, my sports fan friends have the weirdest traditions/habits. Whether it's food, where you watch, what you do when you watch, what you wear, etc et al. They are the most superstitious people (they believe in magic, for real!)! And yes i know i used a number of exclamations there, believe me they are warranted. Still i love to watch the games...
Mets, Knicks, Bills/Pats, Bruins/Sabres fan here...

(42,770 posts)In CT and my dad took us on train to see Mets one time. Of course they were losing bad, and of course my dad says "let's get the hell outta here before the mob leaves.". So we are on the train and somebody had a transister radio with the game on. Mets came back from like 8 points down to win. My sister starts crying.
Funny the things that are memories for life.

(6,450 posts)I live in MA now and have for the past 20 or so years. I come from a long line of Yankee haters... sorry to say, and though i tend not to root for Florida or Texas teams just on principle, i hold no particular animosity toward any team other than the Yankees. I root for the Red Sox unless they play the Mets...

(32,099 posts)Apparently, Moscow Mitch neglected to change the rules to prevent such a thing, and with each amendment comes a 2 hour discussion period before a vote on it. She said that it looks like Chuck Shumer is going to keep on introducing amendments, hopefully in order to encourage Bolton to grow a spine and get on the TV and spill what he knows. It's also an attempt to provide more time for Lev's and Igor's lawyers to put out more tapes and documents. I hope she's right. She usually is...

(43,442 posts)but I guess not 98,000,000 pounds of incriminating evidence would swing one GOP vote ... they're too smug, too superior, too privileged too stuck on themselves and too afraid of Trump to move one neuron.

(9,426 posts)trade bill that was so celebrated, were not invited to the signing. tRump was in one of his hissy fits, so did not want them there. So, why should they go to the SU and listen to him brag about "his" accomplishments and how he was completely cleared of wrongdoing? Remember the ass from the (R) side who shouted out "You lie" at President Obama? They show no respect for an intelligent, accomplished President, why should the democratic politicians act like they respect the liar in chief?

(16,992 posts)...and it's one of the reasons I think the "Good people can disagree" trope that pundits love to deploy in a divided electorate rings so false. This a gratuitously cruel administration, and anyone still applauding it doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

(16,992 posts)Part of Trump's shtick is keeping himself in bubble wrap and away from any audience that isn't at one of his properties or at his rallies the World Series game was a rare exception, and the crowd booed him, and emphatically but it would be meaningful if he had to go to what I hope is his final SOTU and glimpse crowds in favor of convicting and removing him.
The coverage of Trump has been so focused on his base, what he has to do to please the base, how much the base loves him, and how the only thing in the election that matters is the math with the base. It's time he had to come out of his lifelong bubble.

(23,928 posts)I was referencing the fact that he would not yet have been acquitted by the Senate. (There was a reason Trump demanded that the proceedings were wrapped up prior to the Super Bowl.)
The same holds true for the SOTUS. It, like his "interview" with Hannity, will be conducted under a cloud.
