They are so flipping hypocritical.

(129,389 posts)The courts did NOT tell the House HOW to do their business.
NO. Committees do NOT have to have the full House vote on a subpoena.
crickets
(25,982 posts)The House had no recourse to a special investigator, and so had to do its own investigations. Witnesses were deposed behind closed doors to keep them from lining up their stories. Both parties were allowed to be present as members of appropriate committees, and the witnesses all had access to counsel. Of course the president was excluded. This was not the time for any of the other BS he's talking about and this earnest little jackhole knows that.
Blatant lies like this ought to get you censured for ethics violations at the very least.
[and again, the main argument is just, 'unfair!!']
Karma13612
(4,554 posts)They keep repeating this same defense to make sure all of Trumps base hears it at some point.

(55,019 posts)and in the end I am sure it will, the problem is will it happen soon enough?
BumRushDaShow
(129,389 posts)YES agency lawyers are there to advise employees about what they can and cannot discuss when it comes to a hearing (factoring in any "Executive Privilege". We see HUNDREDS of hearings every year where you see this.
But again, the PROBLEM here is that not only was Executive Privilege NOT invoked, but ALL employees were "ordered" not to "testify" AT ALL. So baffling people with bullshit about "agency lawyers" is just filler for something that does not apply.

BumRushDaShow
(129,389 posts)It was patterned after one but in the case of impeachment, the Chief Justice is there more as a symbolic "impartial judge" to shepherd the process along, replacing the Senate Pro-Tempore (Grassley) in that role, and acting as a "working observer" of the dispute between the Executive and the Legislative.
