Should we steel ourselves for the election in November?

Because that is the only way Donald Trump will be removed?

He has been impeached, to the credit of the House and the Democrats. But there is little expectation that it will go much further, unless more bombs start falling around us? Then, the Republicans might notice? I guess it is human nature?

Speaker Pelosi will have her people and "managers" ready for the impeachment trial much quicker than McConnell and Schumer will have negotiated the rules for the trial, I would suspect?

The country is sort of in a political purgatory until the next election, it seems to me?

Unless, of course, more bombs begin to fall around us.

1. I'm afraid so.

Many on DU have said this. The only way we are going to get rid of him is to work like hell to get out the vote and to stand together as Democrats. Even then it is an uphill battle against the stupidity of millions in our country and the rigging of the election. Never forget that absolutely nothing has been done to insure our elections are not going to be tampered with.

2. If Trump is on the ballot (which he most likely will be)

It's going to be an unbearably ugly, nasty election, but it won't be a Hillary v. Trump rematch, so I don't think that Trump will be able to smear any other candidate quite as badly as he was able to (wrongly) smear her. Plus, we've all seen what (nearly) 4 years with Trump is like and I don't know anybody IRL who really likes the guy or think he's suitable for the job. Pretty much smearing the Democratic candidate into oblivion- to the point he/she looks as bad as him (or worse) or having third-or fourth-party candidates- are about the only possible ways Trump can win IMHO. I'm NOT taking anything for granted. We will have to GOTV like we did in 2018 and then some more.

3. Scary...

..to think that many people will not vote if they think their vote is not going to count.

It's a two-edged sword.

5. There is no depth that 45 won't sink.

He's a sociopath. I will rely on DU for information in 2020 to save my sanity.

7. I was steeled in 2016. I cast my vote and it was counted but then nullified by corruption. I plan to

vote in 2020 but I'm not going to put all my hope in that. There are other options like Impeachment,
like public opinion. This thing isn't over at all.

8. No matter what happens, Democrats should already be planning

for an all-out effort to get out the vote for the November election. Whether Trump goes or stays doesn't really matter in that regard. If we turn out the vote, we will win. If we fail to do so, we will lose.

It is that freaking simple.

13. Not really. We could get every single vote in New York or California but lose.

It does not matter unless we win the Electoral College vote. That, and the popular vote, will be the only way.

But of course I agree with have GOTV. Always. but esp. in EC states we lost last time. Right?

9. Recommended.

If Trump heads the republican ticket in 2020, every one of us should work as hard as possible to make the elections at every level a landslide victory for the Democratic Party. And if, by chance, he is not on the ticket, every one of us should work as hard as possible to make the elections at every level a landslide victory for the Democratic Party. Those are the only two options that I can see. Let's kick the stuffing out of them.

10. We really do need to drain the swamp.

The corruption is widespread and deep.

11. You said steel. Thought you meant steal, which

I am 100% for . Maybe we could get Greenland to rig?? It would be hysterical to win Alabama or Mississippi!

What I'd like to see is a timeline of the court cases and any anticipated outcomes before November. Like wouldn't it help (a tad) if the world knew Russians co-signed on all his debt? Or found all the fishiness of that "inaugural" fund? Is that still being looked into? Or what about his buddy that sold his stock before trump announced tariffs. Or Summer's defamation lawsuit.. doesn't he have to testify?

Like NP gambled he would commit other crimes, same for upcoming year. You KNOW he won't do anything good.

12. Yup, I've been saying this since the asshole won

Any hope for removal before the end of his term was a pipedream.

Focus on reality and what is actually possible
