The House Intelligence Committees Trump-Ukraine Impeachment Report dated December 3, 2019 used a subpoena to obtain phone records which plainly demonstrate that ranking member Devin Nunes (R-CA) has an actual conflict of interest with an ongoing impeachment hearing he oversees, the filed complaint filed by The Democratic Coalition stated. That is because Rep. Nunes is currently engaged in overseeing an investigation in which it appears he is a fact witness, and which may examine his own activities and meetings with agents and lawyers of the President who solicited foreign election assistance, as well as potentially into his own contacts with foreign government officials.
The complaint goes on to cite House Rule XXIII (1) which states: A Member, Delegate, Resident Commissioner, officer, or employee of the House shall behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.

(14,049 posts)It is a PAC. I think it would be up to members of the House Committee on Ethics to act on the complaint.
Any indication that this will actually happen? It has a rather disappointing history.

(4,986 posts)Behavior and positions, as he has unique power and privilege as the ranking member for the minority of the Intelligence Committee. That he could skew the inquiry over matters he apparently (according to phone records, including a nine minute call with Parnas) was directly involved in, is nothing short of infuriating.
Requires further understanding - how did his interests intersect with his instructing/leading other republicans on the committee? Another question that enters my mind is whether they are not only protecting tRump, but nunes as well?

I just can't get over the gall of that guy. He has a leading roll in the investigation of events that he himself participated in?! And he never thought to mention it at any time? That's some gd gall.
