The House Judiciary Committee is set to hold its first impeachment hearing on Wednesday.
The panel is expected to hear from legal scholars, though it has yet to announce who will be called to speak.
The panel has offered an invitation to one notable guest: President Donald Trump himself.
While the White House did not reject Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler's invitation outright, it reiterated some of Trump's harshest words about the inquiry.

(13,205 posts)They sent out that letter saying, in effect, Trump had ruled the impeachment illegitimate. Shouldn't these folks at least show up with their copies of the Constitution?
I think Trump's scholars should do everyone the courtesy of pointing out where the Constitution says a US president can only be impeached if he agrees the impeachment is legitimate. That would seem to be a gaping hole in the design of the checks and balances. The Trump scholars should get appropriate recognition by citizens and history for having discovered it.
