(15,190 posts)I wonder why Lindsey is stepping down from the Judiciary Chairmanship??
Maybe his BFF Donald is promising him a nifty new position - in the CABINET!
It would be even better if he resigned from the Senate!

(62,444 posts)He's not stepping down. He has to relinquish the position at the start of the next term.
But, whatevs.

(15,190 posts)He only just took the Chairmanship from Chucky last year. And the report is that Grassley will take the position back after Lindsay.
I guess it would behoove me to learn more about Senate rules!
Thanks for the info.

(62,444 posts)This is a horribly-written article with an even worse headline, but the maneuvering is about swapping seats to avoid term limits:

Graham took over the panel this year from Grassley, who left to chair the Senate Finance Committee.
In an interview Thursday, Graham said Grassley asked to come back after his tenure on the Senate Finance Committee. Graham responded absolutely.
Love Chuck Grassley. Thats the way the Senate works, Graham said. He took the Finance Committee so I could be chairman, and hell come back and fill out his time, and Ill come back, and somebody else will come along.
Senate Republicans allow their members to chair a committee for six years in total, regularly leading to rounds of musical chairs as senators face committee term limits.
