The state of New Jersey is looking to revoke the liquor licenses from at least one of President Donald Trumps golf clubs in the state after one of its patrons caused a fatal accident while driving under the influence.
The Washington Posts David Fahrenthold reports that the Trump golf course in Colts Neck, N.J. has received a letter from New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal that accuses it of over-serving alcohol to a patron named Andrew G. Halder, who went on to cause a vehicular wreck that wound up killing his own father.
According to Fahrenthold, the damage done by the revocation of the Colts Neck License could go far beyond just one club.
Under New Jersey law, anyone who has one liquor license revoked must also give up all their other liquor licenses for two years, he writes. Trump has two other New Jersey golf clubs, including the one in Bedminster, N.J., that he uses as a summer White House.

(70,483 posts)lose his license for this reason for a year--but he had been given a warning 6 months earlier. Bar survived barely because it did serve Friday fish fries--had a good cook. But he learned his lesson

(6,415 posts)Unfortunately, this happens quite often. If this is a first time offense, nothing will happen other than the insurance provider shelling out. It's repeat offenders that get the license revoked. The worst that could happen is the bartender gets fired...and that's if he is found negligent.

(6,415 posts)...a guy gets a promotion at work, he and his buddies decide to celebrate. He has nine Irish Car Bombs....yes nine. Then a few other shots. And his buddies let him get behind the wheel, who then later runs over a person on a bicycle. The person on the bicycle was going to his second job, he sold his car to help pay for his daughters tuition, and his second job was also to help support her. She was first in the family to get to college.
Insurance company I worked for automatically decided to pay max limits. The president of the division even had legal look into how we could pay more. The policy was cancelled....but the Restaurant/Bar was not, first time offense. Bartender was fired and they got a new carrier the next day.
The news headline is the nothing burger. Sensationalized hype because its connected to Trump. There is a lot to get angry with Trump, this isn't one of them. This a symptom of the system, not Trump. Long after he's gone, this problem will still be there.
