Barneys New York closing all stores after bankruptcy filing

Iconic luxury department store Barneys New York is closing all of its locations, including stores in Beverly Hills and Camarillo.

6. Times have changed. CEOs and executives today are as likely

to come to work in dress casual as a suit, same with office staff. Even elegant topcoats are becoming less frequently seen today, technical fabrics allow people to wear simpler jackets, or even sweaters.

Pretty much every person was in a suit and tie. The few women that I saw had on rather elegant dresses. People simply don't dress like that today. I only own dark suits for funerals. I have dress shirts, but wear them so infrequently that I seldom have to replace them.

Stores like Barney's, Sachs, Nordstrom, Macy's prospered when people dressed formally for regular events like work and ballgames.
