On edit: I see there are accusations that this is fake, and even one call to take it down (which isn't going to happen). This is not fake, or rather, it's a 2004 strip that, as you can see, Aaron McGruder set as a "Classic Boondocks" supposedly from November 3, 1988, because conservatives were just as awful in 1988 as they were in 2004, and just as bad as they are today.
Like a lot of discontinued strips, The Boondocks lives on in syndication. This is the one that came up today.

It's not photoshopped, it's not "bullshit", it's not "fake news". Lighten up, Francis!

I'm not following how the supposedly November 1988 strip (actually from 2004) does "NOT associate" with what it references.
JHB
(37,159 posts)It's today's strip in syndication, currently rerunning strips from 2004.

(10,163 posts)Others recorded him without his permission or he would allow a few recordings of special topics. But most of the hate and shit he spewed was never recorded. It's so he can deny the crap he said.
And I heard a highjacked recording of Limpballs saying he wanted to kill all drug addicts from a very reliable source. I'm not sure about the gassing, but he probably did say it. And he probably did say that about the Kurds and gassing. That fat white blob would say anything. The more disgusting the better. So, despite what Snopes wrote, I heard with my own ears Limpballs saying he wanted to kill all drug addicts....we all hoped the facist would start with Limpballs.
I think if Snopes wanted to be fair, they should have included that information.
JHB
(37,159 posts)...and as you noted, only a tiny fraction of what he put out on the air was recorded and transcribed by critics. Some attempts were made (the Flush Rush Review newsletter comes to mind), but they were small operations lacking the resources for recording and wading through some 3 hours of bile daily. And people who could have provided resources didn't think monitoring conservative media was worth their time and money.
What Snopes did do, correctly, is identify the source of the false Limbaugh quote, the lampooning Boondocks strip.

If I Were the Devil
An essay that postulates what steps the devil might take in order to corrupt human civilization was popularized by radio commentator Paul Harvey.

The oldest genuine Paul Harvey version of this piece weve found so far appeared in his newspaper column in 1964:

I mentioned the escalator because one of my hobby horses is debunking NeverTrumpers and others who like to pretend the Republican party was just fine until 2015, when it suddenly and mysteriously lost its mind. The strip was unusually topical for that point too.

(37,159 posts)Your reply called it "fake fucking news news" and included a link examining "Did Limbaugh actually say this?", with the text of the quote separated from cartoon. Presumably it was copied and circulated separately.
Since it was no more a real Limbaugh quote than "I can see Russia from my house" was a real Palin quote, the answer to the question was False. In the course of examining the quote, Snopes correctly and properly sourced it to this very cartoon.
But you wrote as if this was some photoshopped hoax that I fell for.
Way to go, yourself.

(81,475 posts)Rush Limbaugh Arrested on Prescription Drug Charges
APRIL 28, 2006
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 29 (AP) Rush Limbaugh was arrested today on prescription drug charges, with his lawyer saying he has reached a deal with prosecutors that will eventually see the charges dismissed if he continues treatment for drug addiction.
The subject of a three-year investigation by prosecutors, Mr. Limbaugh turned himself in to authorities on a warrant charging him with fraud to conceal information to obtain prescriptions, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Jail.
The 55-year-old conservative radio commentator came into the jail about 4 p.m. with his lawyer, Roy Black, and left an hour later after he was photographed and fingerprinted and he posted $3,000 bail, Ms. Barbera said.
"He just kind of came in and he left," Ms. Barbera said.
