Pence Going All In - What If?.....

What if the fix is in. The Repugs circle the wagons again around Trump. If impeachment gets to the Senate - Mitch does his job and gets Trump off. Barr, Pompeo and the rest of the Repugs stonewall through the roll up to the 2020 election. The Repugs suppress votes, steal votes and get foreign help again - most probably by Russia - and Trump wins a second term. Trump and the Repug crime family will be more embolden than ever and God knows what he'll and they'll do.

We're screwed if that happens.

I guess Pence going all in today - made me think of the worst possible scenario.

Trump is trying to play this out just like 2016. Look's like he's got his plan and the Repugs got their marching orders.

I was sleeping good the last week thinking that our national nightmare was soon coming to an end. After hearing about Pence going all in - I'm now anticipating more loss of sleep going forward.

They came across as “My spineless ass is hiding in the corner until I become President.”

Not much to his comment.

3. Indeed, that's an awful scenario.

A huge number of improbable things have to go perfectly in order for it to play out, though. Of course, you could be right.

But what we're seeing, IMO, looks more like a Hail Mary Pass. They are going to try to circle the wagons but even so there are already signs of strain. Trump won't go down alone; he'll take everybody with him. Their story will be: "We did this but we think there's nothing wrong with it" because they're caught red-handed.

Also, expect them all to do increasingly dumb things as the pressure builds. I don't think it's time to panic, yet.

Voter suppression
Some Democrats/Progressives were uninspired and stayed home
Disaffected Sanders voters disrupting the DNC and either not voting, voting 3rd party or voting Trump
Jill Stein getting a lot more votes in 2016 compared to 2012
Russian interference helped dampen Democratic enthusiasm and/or stroked the Republican base
A media that couldn't handle Trump's Firehose of Falsehoods/Lies
Potentially hacked voter rolls and voting machines
Racists crawling out from under their rocks to vote

1. voter suppression - it's still going on in 2019/20
2. uninspired and staying home - more like fired up and ready to go; Blue Wave carry over from 2018 midterms; inspiration from Trump himself will bring Dems out to vote
3. still some residual bad feelings from 2016 but not enough to cause people to not vote; no 3rd Party yet
4. Tulsi bothers me; maybe 2020's Jill Stein
5. Russian interference is still there and probably smarter than 2016; Dem voters much smarted as well; perhaps they could still stoke the Repug base
6. the media is still a wild card; maybe getting tougher than 2016; but still cowering to Trump and the $'s his candidacy brings in.
7. I don't think we've done much to fix the voter rolls or machines
8. The race issue has reared its ugly head; thank you deplorables.

This time around Trump has the help of the DOJ/Barr; Trump's been more embolden since 2016 knowing what he's got away with over the last 3 years; Mueller Report crashes (hopefully might be revitalized given the impeachment movement now initiated; we don't know what the October surprise will be this time around (Comey's not around but who might be the Comey factor in 2020; we still have to deal with gerrymandering and the Electoral College.

So all in all some things have changed for the good. Some things remained the same. Some things may have worsened. So it looks like we are going into the 2020 election kind of similar to 2016. Let's hope this time around things play out in our favor.

rural Texan I can tell you that all of my neighbors love Trump and could care less what he says and if it doesn't directly affect them doesn't care what he does. We are in seriously dangerous times for our Democracy.
