What will the State Department's inspector general say? That's the question on everybody's mind this morning, after the inspector general requested an urgent, private briefing with senior congressional staff members. It's not entirely clear what information the inspector general will provide in today's briefing, but it's happening as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has pushed back on House Democrats' demands to turn over documents related to Ukraine and to depose current and former State officials as part of the impeachment inquiry.

Washington (CNN)House Democrats issued a stark warning to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Tuesday after the top US diplomat accused lawmakers of "intimidating and bullying" State Department officials by calling them for depositions related to the Ukraine inquiry.
In a letter sent Tuesday afternoon, the chairmen of the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight committees told Pompeo that any effort to prevent those officials from speaking to Congress "is illegal and will constitute evidence of obstruction of the impeachment inquiry."
The response came just hours after Pompeo wrote to chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Eliot Engel of New York, notifying him that the proposed dates for depositions "do not provide adequate time for the Department and its employees to prepare."

(CNN)The State Department's inspector general on Tuesday requested an urgent briefing with senior congressional staff members after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo pushed back on House Democratic demands to turn over documents related to Ukraine and to depose current and former State officials, according to sources briefed on the matter.
It's unclear exactly what State inspector general Steve Linick plans to provide Congress during the private Wednesday briefing. But it comes amid the House Democrats' impeachment investigation, which has been fueled by the US Intelligence Community's inspector general's review of a complaint by a whistleblower who alleged President Donald Trump sought help from Ukraine's government to interfere in the 2020 elections.
One congressional aide described the State inspector general's request as "highly unusual and cryptically worded."

This all broke on DU yesterday evening, and there are many threads on the subject already.
ETA: You changed the title as i was writing, I see. That's good. For those who come in later, here's your original thread title:

(1,124 posts)On my numerous OPs, which are flawless and in my DU Journal, why didn't you bother to reply?
Are you the resident critic?
On edit: As for your OPs, in the past, I have consistently not only recommended them but also added a K&R...

(146,298 posts)Not redundant. When I say that you had changed it, I edited my reply to indicate that.

(1,124 posts)Your OPs show a real, caring Democrat, who wants Trump out of the White House and I will keep them publicized, no matter how your respond to my recent, previous mistakes. Please read subsequent replies that I made today, to allow readers to understand my feelings of urgency to post important news first, along with an advantage that I no longer have, when I wrote professionally.

And now, although I refuse to hate or criticize works of other DUers, who sometimes have syntax errors, or other problems, I'll leave you with a song with lyrics, which might (or might not) apply. But, as my signature line implies, I will take the best teachings of Gandhi and not return "hate" with "hate."
Surprisingly, online sources are currently attempting to apply quotes, attributed to Gandhi - for a very long time - to others. There appears to be an organized, online effort to destroy his reputation. Anyway, here's the quote:
"An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind."

And here is the song:

It sounds like the movement is getting a lot of pushback in India.
Granted, we have a similar issue with our slave-owning Founding Fathers, but I still think one has to look at all the person represented and the times during which they lived. We get the good with the bad in all humans.

Who is again trying to label him as a racist?
This quote is attributed to Gandhi:
Intolerance is itself a form of violence and an obstacle to the growth of a true democratic spirit.

(1,124 posts)There is a lot of online indication that Gandhi was ignorant about Africans, which could lead to racist remarks.
Ignorance and racism are mirror images of each other.
