Nope...no blaming of Obama. There isn't even anything political associated with the closing.
It's the fact that there was the drop in demand for SUV's.

And yes, they will claim it anyway, but right there is the proof that he did know and lied.

Technically, the Ryan line is that the President failed to "keep it open".
Technically, the plant had a hundred workers paid after the main line closed Dec 23, 2008, to keep a small line open to fill out a truck order until April 2009.
However, the basic fact that the weasel would have you not know is that the plant closing was accelerated by the Republican President who applauded GM for being "adaptable" in closing that and other plants. The plant was slated to close in 2010 (see letter below) but was accelerated and closed in 2008 except for an essentially inconsequential amount of work for a few months.
Fact: It was all decided and finalized by time Obama took office.

(582 posts)Isn't this about par for all the accusations made the last three years by the right? I've been livid about the smack talk on slynandra (sp). Obama ran on a green energy platform. Of course companies in that industry would donate in his favor. They would not be making donations in favor of drill baby drill types. Naturally, the President pushed loans through to support his goal, less dependence on carbon based fuels. Now at this point, we see evidence of what a lack of business acumen on the part of the President influencing the results: it is not wise to launch new businesses/industries in a recession. That is the only actual fault I can find on the president and the green energy revolution. Truth is, I feel we should have been there about the time Reagan was re-elected, given the wake up call after the Yom Kippur war.
