...is to contrast with him, not to be like him.
His "strengths" are ridicule, name-calling, hyperbole, out-right lying, and bushels of bullshit. Do not even try to compete on his level.
The contrast would be, to be serious, presidential, self-assured, and knowledgeable. But most of all, be honest and be yourself. The more you can be 'unlike" Trump, the better your chances of winning.
Demonstrate that you are a good person. Talk about uniting our country, not dividing it. Talk about how we are one nation.
Define his policies with words like "adolescent", "incompetent", "unpatriotic", "incurious", and "not in our country's interests".
As some have said, we need someone like Aunt Bee, from Maybury, to go against him. It needs to be that sharp of a contrast. Under no circumstances should you get into a name-calling contest or try to out-ridicule him. He is a natural at it and you would be at a disadvantage.
The American people, Democrats and Republicans, are tired of the division and name-calling. Show them there is another way.
