(10,252 posts)A man, who finds pleasure and glee in the misfortune of others. A man without compassion or empathy. A really sick fucker.

(10,252 posts)Hatred is poison. As a Buddhist, I am supposed to have compassion for ALL sentient beings. But compassion isn't a free pass to be a jerk. And it doesn't prevent me from seeing how dark and hateful is his mind. We can look at him as he is, and see him as a morality lesson of how not to be. As a Buddhist, I believe in the truth of karma. Need I say more?

(30,831 posts)I know it only hurts me. But I can't seem to prevent myself from feeling the helpless rage and disgust that sums up hatred to me.
To believe that he will suffer at some future time is not a consolation, because that also arouses self-destructive emotions, like vengeance and pleasure in someone's misery.

(10,252 posts)is the ability to maintain a calm, abiding mind, even when we look at what we find repulsive. It is not being seduced by desire and attachment, or being agitated by aversion to what we experience as unpleasant. We cannot control Trump. We can only practice controlling our own afflicted minds. Anger is aggression towards what we desire to be different than what it is.
There are very limited ways that Trump and his ilk can change for the better, if at all. Changing one's habitual way of thinking is very difficult. His angry reactions are unconsciously habitual. He cannot see how everyone else sees him, because his mind is filled with dark delusions of grandiose self-cherishing. Something really dreadful and painful has to happen to him, like prison, for him to ever get to the point, where he begins to reflect on how his behavior caused certain results. Even so, his lifetime of habitually lying and blaming everyone else will probably continue. Change is really difficult. Once he is out of office, his grifter "friends" will hitch their wagons to the next powerful corrupt source of easy wealth. It's all very sad.

(30,831 posts)Equiminity is what I need to work on.
In addition to any action possible to get rid of Trump, of course.
Thank-you for your thoughtful response.

Heres a picture of them as the all American family.

(36,948 posts)I feel sorry for those kids... one day they will learn about their mother. I feel sorry for Barron, too.
And god forbid if one of her children becomes a clothing/fashion designer:
